Claim:
On 8 April 2026, a Facebook page called Zambia for All 2026 published a picture of a man wearing a United Party for National Development (UPND)-branded T-shirt with the caption: โUPND media team donโt want to share this information. Anyway, August is around the corner. May God protect the lives of Zambian citizens. Mr. Hakainde Hichilema is the one sponsoring these thugs to harm opposition leaders during campaigns.โ

Verification:
To verify this claim, we analyzed the picture published by Zambia for All 2026 using Google Reverse Image Search. The search returned similar results, including pictures published by Chete FM, a Zambian radio station based in Nakonde district.
A further search provided several stories published by Chete FM using a similar picture, but in those images the man was wearing a yellow T-shirt, which is consistent across all the pictures published by the station.
The verification further indicates that the claim by Zambia for All 2026 originates from a recent incident in which suspected armed robbers were killed in a shooting by the Zambia Police Service in Mushindamo District, North-Western Province, as reported by Chete FM. This report was also reported by the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.
The story published by Chete FM states that the man in the picture, identified as Jason Simbeye, who was one of the five suspected criminals killed by police during an exchange of gunfire, was once convicted after an armed robbery attack at Manyanya Shopping Complex in Nakonde in 2020, but was later acquitted by the courts.
The picture was first published by Chete FM on 14 July 2020 on their official Facebook page.
Conclusion:
While the picture published by Zambia for All 2026 is similar to the one published by Chete FM in its crime-related stories, the version published by Zambia for All 2026 has been manipulated.
Verdict: False
