Claim being checked: Are the images used by CNN in the interview with President Hakainde Hichilema Zambian?
On the 18th of March, CNN published a video clip of an interview with Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema on their website.
In the video, some images are used to illustrate the impact of the climate crisis in Zambia. Below are some of the images used. Frame 1, Frame 2, Frame 3 and Frame 4.




Findings
Frame 1: The image was taken in Laresoro, in Samburu county, Kenya and was once used in an Article by The Guardian.
Frame 2: The image was taken in Kenya and was used in an article by Action Against Hunger in September 2023.
Frame 3: The image was taken in Zambia and was used in an article by The Guardian. Guillem Sartorio took the photo.
Frame 4: The image was taken in Kenya and was used in an article by The Guardian.

Conclusion
Zambia has been hit by drought, thereby affecting agriculture, as most crops have dried up. However, the images used in the CNN interview are not from Zambia. Furthermore, some parts of the country have experienced rainfall in the last two months, contrary to the claim made by CNN.
