There have been social media claims that US President, Donald Trump signed an executive order to withdraw the United States from the United Nations organization. One particular claim made by Lusaka based politician, Thomas Sipalo reads “Breaking News!!!! Donald Trump has signed an executive order withdrawing the US from the UN…”
Verification
To verifiy the claim, Dikoding Deception analyzed the post made by Thomas Sipalo on his official Facebook Page which has over 198 Thousand followers. We further verified the claim by watching different media sources that carried the News. In one paticular clip on Fox News, Donald Trump is presented with an Executive Order to withdraw the United States from the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Trump also ordered a withdraw from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, a body that supports relief and development aid for Palestinian refugees in the Middle East.
Conclusion
The claim made by Thomas Sipalo is MISLEADING as the United States has not withdrawn from the entire United Nations organization.
