Claim Being Checked:
Social media has been flooded with a lot of posts suggesting that Nigerian musical star, Tems, has cancelled her show scheduled for March in Kigali. This comes after new allegations of Rwanda’s involvement in the conflict in Goma, Eastern Democratic Repubic Congo where M23 Rebels have been fighting the government forces causing civilian deaths and displacements.

Verification
Dikoding Deception verified these claims by analyzing the posts and searching on Tems’ social media accounts if a statement had been released by the musical star. After a verification, we found 2 posts on her official X account in relation to the show and the situation in Goma.
Tems wrote on her X account “So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realising that there is ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo. I never ever intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way. I simply had no idea this was going on. My heart goes out to those affected. Conflict is no joke and I truly hope and pray for peace in this time.”
Tems later posted a promotional poster with a stamp “Cancelled” confirming her cancellation of the show in Kigali.
